Today Token House Partnership
owns and manages between them around 70 unique domains, the first and
most well established being firstbookshop.com founded by and
today still overseen by Roger Crossland a Bookseller since 1974. As the first
Bookshop in the world to retail and redeem National Book Tokens online, the
service was expanded to offer Theatre Tokens online - nationwide theatre
vouchers - and now both gift cards are sold under the well recognised brand of
tokenline.com freepost within Great Britain & Ireland.
December 2014 Martin Crossland was key to opening the first office for an
exciting original Charity venture in Derry, County Londonderry, his idea and
the first of its kind for the region. This operates independently from
everything else, being registered with and launched in conjunction with the
new Charity Commission Northern Ireland, for which today he is Chair.
This Partnership have been operating internet services since 1999
including the promotion of educational and vocational development through
various trading initiatives. Their pioneering and successful relationship formed
it's roots in Leeds during 1983 and their 1st Bookshop opened in 1987 recently celebrating 30 years, as
still trades online successfully today!
Because there was such a
phenomenal demand for the online recruitment service, started as Bridjobs
and which we became so renown for in East Yorkshire, during the years that
followed this was expanded with The
Employers Agency as an add on, yet another unique and exciting development for the
local business owners in Bridlington and the East Riding County.
Although the Recruitment Agency Offices were open in Bridlington from 2009 to
2014 after trials and research, it was decided to revert back to a Jobsite.
East Riding of
Yorkshire Community Accountancy (ERYCA) Martin Crossland, former Community Accountant at ERVAS East Riding Voluntary Action Services Ltd.,
also set up an independent accounting service, which focused on
the continued provision of quality accounts preparation and independent
examination service, book-keeping and payroll services to all community
groups, organisations and registered charities within the East Riding of
Martin, who was instrumental in the success of the ERVAS pilot project -
which ran as a partnership through Humberside Community Accountancy and was
financed via ChangeUp funding during 2006 and 2007 - left there to develop
several other initiatives, one being ERYCA. Although funding ceased for the
original project in September 2007, he then continued to provide accountancy
services to groups, resulting in the formation of eryca.co.uk and
this also ran until 2014.
In 2004, following relocation to
Bridlington, the partnership became aware of the opportunities not only for
progression, but also for the benefit of the area and its population
through utilising their expertise, ethos and commitment to regeneration
programmes. The establishment of the jobsite was achieved by using the
experience gained within the voluntary and community sectors, working
primarily within areas focused around community development, employment,
training and assisting local businesses to thrive.
The continued success of Token House is due partly because
browsing for jobs and books online, are two of the most popular internet
in the top five just behind holidays/travel, internet jobsites are one of the main contributing
factors why the sales of newspapers have declined more than 750 million
copies per year since the mid 1980's when we opened our 1st Bookshop in
Garforth Leeds. Recent research shows that recruiters today prefer
niche jobsites, rather than national ones, as these return better results -
one of the reasons why now more than 70% of all East Yorkshire businesses
have already had recruitment adverts featured on our job sites since launch. This includes one of the region's larger employers Ebuyer incorporating
East Yorkshire Jobs: Bridjobs was created specifically
to cater to the needs of the growing local population in this new millennium
and to help improve the prosperity of the area. Towns surrounding Bridlington are
also now benefiting too, as they have very quickly become the preferred
recruitment portal for the whole East Riding region. This initiative
was rebranded in 2006 as eastyorkshirejobs.com
What was once the traditional way of promoting employment
opportunities for the town and the region is no more - recruiting via the
internet is the future, recruiting good staff with your local jobsite is the present.
No other medium gives you access to the majority of current jobs in
Bridlington, a very large selection of all the jobs in East Yorkshire at
this time, plus every single job currently on offer at East Riding Of
Yorkshire Council. Because of this, many in the area involved with
recruitment, refer to Bridjobs regularly - including
Job Centre Plus.
Our very latest web
domain going live for retailing in 2016 was one from the suffix of the
next generation: bookshop.website
2017 we acquired for
future development: northyorkshirejobs.co.uk and
southyorkshirejobs.co.uk plus westyorkshirejobs.co.uk
2018 our Firstbookstore.co.uk
became cheaper than Amazon for most books, when paying in full by
debit card or credit card (not with tokens).
